Pinnacles National Park preserves a remarkable range of natural, historic and cultural treasures. While most visitors know Pinnacles for its spectacular volcanic geology, the park is also home to a rich cultural heritage. In 2006, the National Park Service acquired the 2,600-acre Pinnacles Ranch/Bacon Homestead.

The traditional family-run cattle ranches that used to dominate much of the economy of the West are disappearing. A stroll through the broad range land, majestic valley oak woodlands, and historic ranch buildings of Bacon Homestead give visitors a chance to experience our western heritage.

The Fund for People in Parks funded a grant for DiVittorio & Associates to design and install six educational signs that let visitors better learn about this “hidden gem” historic ranch.  A previous Fund project created a visitor center exhibit and brochures to lead visitors to the site.

Signs were installed in 2016 and visitors are now learning about the previously-untold stories of historic ranching in the Pinnacles National Park region.

Project Cost: $17,280                                                                   Project Completed: 2016
The Fund for People in Parks: $8,480

Love the history and exploring around the property!"
