Redwood National and State Parks feature magnificent ancient coast redwood groves, luscious beaches, and river watersheds so biodiverse, they are recognized as a World Heritage Site. The parks are managed in partnership with the National Park Service, California Department of Parks and Recreation, and local Tribes. Year-round visitors enjoy day-hiking, backpacking, and camping amidst diverse flora and fauna.
The park lacks meaningful opportunities to rest and enjoy scenic landscapes on several park trails and beaches. The Fund for People in Parks will address this accessibility issue by providing ten benches in critical areas. The benches improve the visitor experience through comfort and rest, social interaction, scenic views, health and well-being, inclusivity, and safety. Funding Needed: $33,000 Project Approved: 2024 Project co-funded by: National Park Service With the addition of 10 new benches, we will provide places to rest for those with mobility limitations. In addition, the benches will provide an opportunity to enjoy the park at a different pace, take time for more observations, and engage in the interpretive elements of the park." |
