OpenRoad is a syndicated travel show televised on NBC Bay Area, featuring Doug McConnell. Each week, visitors are treated to a journey to the natural, historical, and cultural treasures of California, with a focus on parks and open spaces protected by and for the public. The show’s underwriters are comprised of conservation groups across Northern California.
The Fund for People in Parks provided a grant to produce an episode on Pinnacles National Park, featuring its wondrous rock spires, rare and majestic California condors, and a suite of projects aimed at improving the visitor experience in the park that the Fund has supported. The episode reached around 150,000 viewers in the 2020 broadcast season and is available to the public in perpetuity via the web and social media. Furthermore, the National Park Service received all raw footage for future educational purposes. The show premiered on July 19, 2020. A second broadcast took place in Fall 2020 and the show will be featured in ongoing reruns. Project Cost: $10,458 Project Completed: 2020 |
