Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve contains a vast series of marble caves, created over millions of years of erosion by acidic water. The caves are located in the heart of the Siskiyou Mountains, a beautiful range located close to the Oregon-California border.
In 2014, 4,070 acres was transferred from the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest to the park to include a large area of old growth forest and mountainous terrain. The Fund for People in Parks provided a grant to contract for design services with interpretive design specialist, Dan DiVittorio, and provided funding for the first round of printing of a new trail guide to help visitors explore nine miles of trail in the new addition to the park. 2,500 copies of the trail guide were printed and made available to the public in 2016. The park continues to use DiVittorio’s design and has reprinted the guide through its own funding. Project Cost: $1,692 Project Completed: 2016 |
