Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve features marble caves, created over millions of years of erosion by acidic water. Like all National Parks, this park offers Junior Ranger activities to engage children and their parents in learning about park resources. However, the educational booklet for children to use and take home had old-fashioned visual design and outdated information.

The park wanted to enhance the Junior Ranger program with a more appealing design that is more effective in communicating with young visitors and includes updated content. The Fund for People in Parks contracted with a designer that specializes in youth engagement, Andrea Good/Inky Pinky, who worked closely with park staff to provide graphic design. The booklet is published on the park's website and the Oregon Caves Natural History Association is funding print runs of the booklet, which are available at the two park visitor centers.

Design was completed in Summer 2024, and printing was completed in Winter 2025.

Become an Oregon Caves Junior Ranger!
The primary lack at the park has been access to a designer and artist with skills to put together an appealing Junior Ranger booklet that excites mostly young minds to appreciate, enjoy, and embrace the value of National Parks, including Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve."
