What We Do
The Fund enhances the visitor experience in Western National Parks by assisting the Parks and their local support groups with private project funding and professional consulting services.
Where We Work
The Fund serves the Parks within the Pacific West Region of the National Park System.
The Fund's work directly enhances the park visitor's experience.
The quality of a visitor's experience is one of the best measures of a Park's value. The Fund focuses specifically on enhancing the visitor's access to, and enjoyment of, each Park's unique cultural, historic and natural features as well as on developing new dimensions and unique activities for visitors to experience in each Park.
The Fund encourages and assists local partners.
In addition to providing critical direct grants, The Fund helps local Park support groups to increase their ability to raise general funds, obtain matching grants, improve organizational planning and practice and manage projects effectively. The Fund also helps local support groups to develop media strategy for receiving and managing public recognition for successful projects. The Fund's services can also help to streamline project execution and reduce costs.
The Fund supports dynamic and creative Park leadership.
Federal agency budgets are tight and getting tighter. As a result, many dedicated Park Superintendents and their local support partners have backlogged "wishlists" of excellent Park experience improvement projects that have little hope of receiving traditional funding. The Fund provides a direct conduit that allows efficient private support to bring the best of these worthy potential projects to fruition.
